This piece is by far the biggest piece in this collection, paying homage to the original painting created during the Get Messy Challenge which inspired this collection.

Freddie Mercury is such an icon and it's been so fun to see the evolution of the painting style throughout the trilogy. 

Process...

To create this piece, I first used Queen and Freddie Mercury sheet music and recycled papers for a collage effect which I then created a charcoal sketch over the top of the portrait.

I painted the lyrics to 'Don't Stop Me Now' using a pearlescent paint, which goes from being virtually invisible to either reflecting the light and glowing white or having a shimmer golden colour depending on where the light hits it.

The portrait is then painted on using oil paint in 3 seperate layers, adding more detail as we go along but keeping sections of the music and papers showing through.

Finally, time for the Q❤️, painted on first with Posca markers then layered up with oil paint for a glossy finish!
